Hi guys,

Just wondering if any of you watch Pimp my ride on MTV.  I find it interesting to see what modders can do with old cars.  For example, they took a 94 Mitsubishi Galant from a person that wanted to be a poet.  They then Installed a confy back seat lounge, and where the middle arm rest used to be, added a slideout tray with a laptop, so she could write her poetry there.  Gave me some cool ideas to add to my car, if I get the money one day.

Cheers,
Matt

I have to say I can't stomach this show. X to the Z just gets on my nerves with his hip-hop gobbledygeek, the UK version is even worse with white hip-hop DJ Tim Westwood behaving like a fool. It's about time he realised he isn't a young black gang-banger from the hood and grew up a bit.

Some of the custom jobs are pretty good, but most rely on stuffing as many LCD screens into a small car.

It's an okay show if you're really really really bored. But sometimes I'm like "Why the heck do you need THAT in your car?"

I've watched it a few times and it's amazing how they can do up old cars like that.

Thats true. Why would you need 2" LCD monitors in your headlamps? :P Some things are good though, like the lounge that I was talking about above, with the slideout laptop.

I would agree, some of these are quite nice, like they installed suicide doors on one of the cars, which makes it easier to get in, they say. Another one has Lamborghini style doors that oped up, so if your in a cramped parking lot, it's easier to get in and out. But on another, they installed popout doors. Hey, if you are in a small parking low, how will you get out without bumping the car next to you?

this is one my favorite show at MTV... I love it coz I'm fond of watching it, especially when you see the reactions of the people who are allowing their cars to have a make over. and some freebies given by Xhibit and his pimp team...

Pimp My Ride is the only show worth watching, and even that is a stretch, on MTV. It's nice to look at what can be done with crap, when you see something very hawt roll out n to the strret. I wish someone would've pimped my ride back when I still had my car.

I like watching Pimp My Ride, but I think they go over the top with a lot of those vehicles. I saw one episode where they put tv's on the outside of the car!! That's just rediculous and a waste of money.

Yes, it would be better I guess if they spent more say on replacing the engine, since the old engine may not be good. LCD screens everywhere is a bit of a waste, but they do have a lot of money.

I have to agree with you jess, I wonder the same. Just give me some good
wheels and a running engine that's all I need, well ok and nice looking body
with new paint job etc :-ww but in all seriousness, they do go a little to far,
I'd be worried that it's scream'n to be ripped off!

I don't get to watch it as often but I love the fact that they are able to come up with crazy ideas to do to cars. I'm watching the show and calculating how much it would cost to do a similar project on my car, but it seems so expensive and out of reach. And most of the mods are cosmetic and i would rather spend money on engine mods.

Well, they once put a 290 HP engine in a 69 mustle car I think, that the engine was not working well.

Anyway, you should send them a letter, see if they will do your car. :P

I think my favorite episode is the one that Arnold Swarzenegger was in! lol They made the seats out of hemp and Arnold was like, "Now they're going to be smoking their seats!" lol. You have to see it, I guess. It was funny. And the car the pimped, they made it environment friendly.

Haha. I saw an episode a while back, and it was pretty amazing. They had a fireplace in the back trunk! I guess they make a lot more from each show to cover the costs, because that must have cost a lot of money to make.
