I hear the sound of prayers ...

I'm guessing that there is a wedding function performed today and perhaps also tomorrow. The wedding function typically takes place outdoors in India, and it's pretty freaking loud. The volume of speakers is pretty crazy, and I sincerely hope that I can sleep well tonight ...

It's pretty late here, but I don't feel very sleep, so I'm still posting in this forum.

My client kept emailing me last week and asked me to do a bunch of things. I'll get them done, but I did a few things already, so I submitted the invoice for those services today. Interestingly, they haven't emailed me today. Typical ... Not terrible people, but they always take some time to make the payment.

Easy Saturday.

There is something that I have to do for tomorrow's meeting, but I got it done last night, so ... I'm not really pressured to do so many things this morning. I'll go take a walk, get coffee and do some reading this afternoon ...

Ok, some wedding function or religious function is taking place tonight in my apartment complex. These things are awfully loud and I mean "loud." My apartment (flat) is on the 5th floor and I can feel the vibration along the sound, so you know, you can imagine how loud this is. I can tolerate something like this taking place on Friday but not Sunday ...

Is the meeting going to take place tonight ...?

I was supposed to meet someone to discuss a few things and he told me that he'd come to my apartment at around 7:00 pm - 7:30 pm, but he hasn't shown up yet; it's about 8:15 pm now. Something like this happens too often. It's somewhat inconvenient because I can do some things if I have one hour. I can have a meal. I can clean my apartment. I can go run errands, etc. *** sigh ***

Sound of 3rd world country ...

Wedding and related functions take place inside bride and groom's houses in India. They don't rent out a restaurant or a huge space in a hotel. I live in a pretty descent apartment complex, but those who in the complex don't rent out a space outside of the apartment complex to host a wedding related function; they just set up a big tent-ish thing.

Ok, so, a young man in one of families in the complex is getting married, and there was a wedding related function last Friday. There was another function yesterday (Sunday). And ... there is yet another function today, tonight actually. How do I know that? Well, I saw a tent-ish thing set up on the ground floor, and I also hear the sound of a generator; I don't know what engine this generator is using, but this is awfully loud. There is also a live band playing very loud music. When I just moved to India, generators and live bands amused me. Not anymore. Today, whenever I hear the sound, I just call it "Sound of 3rd world country."

hi stoli :ww

so this latest wedding is being held on Monday night in your apartment block. Don't they have laws in India about noise after a certain of night, varies on what day it is here.

Spending a lot of time posting in forums ...

I've been spending a lot of time posting in forums. It's not that I have nothing else to do, but I am waiting for emails from my client and my potential client. I need to get their answers in order to move ahead ...

BTW, I haven't been eating a lot this week. It's pretty hot, and I don't feel so hungry. For example, I was eating fruits mostly today ...

Neighbor who has to talk outside of his flat ...

I have this idiot neighbor; he happens to be a lawyer (coincidence?). This guy has to talk on mobile outside of his flat, and it disturbs my peaceful evening. Ok, so, maybe he's not getting good reception. But he's not on the road; he's home now. So, why not just use landline? Well, apparently, this lawyer is not intelligent enough to think about that option ... *** sigh ***

I'm cooking Paneer Masala tonight.

I definitely need to eat something that has volume and calories. It's not like that I haven't been eating anything, but I have been eating very lightly lately because of the weather. But I feel that I should really eat a lot more to stay healthy. I just don't feel like eating a lot of meat, so I'm cooking Paneer Masala tonight ...

It's a bit difficult day physically. There were a bunch of mosquitoes, and they kept me awake. I could barely sleep and I feel very tired today because of that. I was burning two mosquito coils and using one mosquito liquid (electric one), but that was apparently not enough. I guess that I need to get mosquito repellent ...

Slept.

Yes, that's what I did this afternoon. I have not been able to sleep well this week, and I was falling apart. I just had to sleep this afternoon. Forget work and all for several hours. I can't go on without sleeping. It's been a bit strange week.

More administrative work to do.

I went to the foreign registration office today; it's kind of like an ... immigration office. I got the information that I wanted, but I need to stop at another office this week. Today was pretty damn hot, and I felt pretty exhausted after I walked around for an hour or so under the sun. I'm actually pretty used to walking a long distance, and I can comfortably walk for many hours, but not under this weather. If I do that, I'd be dehydrated.

Kind of strange day. Electricity hasn't gone out yet today. Also I had to pass a certain document to my accountant and I had to stop at a post office and send a mail, but my friend volunteered to do these for me, so ... I can sit in front of my computer and work most of the day today. It's all good, and this is really ... normal, but 'normal' rarely happens in India, so it feels a bit strange ...

Let's get one thing done at least.

It's not that I've been slacking lately, but I feel a bit disorganized and I also feel that I'm not getting many tasks done. My client is making yet another lame excuse to postpone her payment, or it happens to look like that. I want to finish making the required number of posts for Aardvark Post Exchange today. If I do, then I have two weeks left to work on other tasks. Let's get one thing done at least today ...

I got this done yesterday at least ...  However, other things are just not falling into place.  There is one meeting that must take place, but it's been rescheduled quite a few times for variety of reasons.  This really has to take place this week, and I'm getting a bit frustrated.  My a** h*** idiot client makes up unimaginative excuses to delay payments yet again.  *** sigh ***  Oh, another piece of bad news.  USD is getting so weak and Indian Rupee is getting so much stronger against USD.  It hit the 8 year-high yesterday.  What the ...

There are other things that are just not falling into place and making me unhappy ... *** sigh ***

Another appointment is being delayed or canceled. I already complained about this in a couple of other forums, but ... this just throws me off. It seems that punctuality doesn't exist in India. It's not that everyone in developed countries is punctual; as a matter of fact, ever since that damn cell phone was invented, I feel like that so many people stopped bothering about being punctual. But, but ... the situation is far worse in India. Also it feels very frustrating and distressing to be a punctual person in India because, in the end, those who are being punctual become suckers ...

I'm definitely getting a little tired and bored of living here, and it's one of reasons why I'm bitching about this, but this still doesn't change the fact that punctuality barely exists in India ...

Idiot who just doesn't understand what she's talking about ...

Ah, this idiot just doesn't understand what she's talking about.

She wants to have her own hosting plan and host a couple of websites. She keeps implying that she has a hosting plan because she purchased a domain name via GoDaddy. Well, she needs to purchase a hosting plan separately. I keep emailing her about this, but she's pretty slow apparently.

There are two big problems.

1. I can't meet her face-to-face. Email is not a very effective communication tool unless two people feel very comfortable using email. IM is apparently not an option; she just doesn't have any account or she's only used it a couple of times. So, the communication problem is a big problem here.

2. She's asking me to do something technical because she has no intention of learning anything technical. That's fine; I don't complain about that by itself. Problem is that she doesn't acknowledge that she is not savvy when it comes to technical stuff, nor does she have any intention of learning anything technical. *** sigh *** Why do these people exist ...? She should just be growing fruits or something ... *** sigh ***

I just asked my customer to make a partial payment. I'll see what happens ...

Each payment collection is getting more difficult. I hate losing any customers, but I need to do something about this particular one. It seems a little too much hassle to deal with her, so ... I had to ask this partial payment. I should've done this before, but ..., well, I couldn't do it for variety of reasons. Whatever happens, I'll just deal with it. That should be the attitude ...

How are you doing Stoli. Have not seen you around for a few days.

Some customers just don't get it I have found. You can try and try and they just make things way to hard.
