This year is my FIRST Father's Day as a Dad. it is very exciting and very emotional at the same time.
My son is only a little under 6 months old, but it is still so cool to get father's day cards and just to know all the great things that will be coming in the years to come.

The day care center he goes to each day made a little present for me from him and I have not opened it yet and can't wait to open it on Sunday.

Makes me smile.

After 20 years of swearing I would not play, learn, or get into it, I have become somewhat obsessed with golf and catching up to my friends and family who play. Because of my business I have had the opportunity to play in many, many tournaments and events over the past years, all which I have passed on, because I literally had never picked up a club or even hit one ball. But about a month ago I finally said to myself, OK, let's see what everyone is talking about. I went and looked at some clubs, bag, and all of the other needed items, and soon I was purchasing everything and ready to go. But again, I had never ever done this before. Sure I had been an athlete all through school and still was more athletic then your average person at my age, but I needed son help. So I got some lessons and have been going to the driving range this past week. once by myself and one other time with a friend of mine who is a scratch golfer and really really good. he has been playing for over 25 years.
So far I still suck, lol, but I seem to be improving, at least that is what everyone tells me. I can hit the ball better then most with one week's experience and I seem to have a natural swing, which according to some, is a good thing.
I will continue to update as this new hobby turns into an evil obsession and I am breaking clubs or tossing them into the ponds that border the courses I someday play on, lol

So are you following major golf tournaments on TV now like many male adults all over the world?

I am in Miami for a convention/conference and I got sick and had my appendix removed in emergency surgery Monday night. I am OK, but it has been a hard week away from home. Sorry I have not been here as much as I wanted to, but I will be back in full force in a few days and will give a full report of the strange...strange trip it has been.

Thanks everyone for the concern :) In the end I am OK, a few new scars on the body, lol. But here is a recap of what happened...

We are based in
North Carolina and flew to Miami at 5am on Monday morning. My staff and I arrived around 9am and checked into the Lowes hotel. Our rooms were not ready so we headed over to the convention center to get everyone registered and take the classes. I was not feeling well, but went on with the daily schedule as planned. Later that night we all went to the great event at the Mansion nightclub (the same club that the new Miami Vice movie was filmed in). It was a lot of fun and an incredible networking event.

Immediately after the event at Mansion ended around 10:30pm I went to the emergency room at
Mount Sinai Hospital and sat in the emergency room for about 3 hours in a lot of pain. After a bunch of tests and at around 4am I was told that surgery was going to happen. When I woke up after the sugery on Tuesday and the first thing I asked was could I check out. The doctor laughed at me. My staff brought over my laptop and I basically worked all day in my hospital room and was amazinly bored. I wanted out!!! I spent all of Tuesday in the hospital while my staff went to the different classes and events.

On Wednesday morning I basically demanded to be released and finally was “let out”. I went back to the hotel and it took me almost 3 hours to just take a shower because I was actually in some pain. But I finally did get dressed and headed right over to the Exhibit floor at the Convention center. There I was greeted by MANY friends who had heard about what was going on. They were both concerned for how I was feeling, and laughing at the fact I was even there at all so quickly. Most people either thought I was "sperman" OR the DUMBEST person they had ever met for even coming back to the convention and not just resting, lol Basically everyone in the 2 booths was surprised to see me.

Wednesday night I went to another huge event associated with the convention.
And while I was moving a little slower then everyone else and not drinking any alcohol, I enjoyed every minute of it
AND had an opportunity to network and meet with people I needed to see for upcoming events we are involved in. My surgery was a hot topic everyone asked about and I joked about it until I finally had to head back to the hotel early for some rest and pain medicine.

Thursday it was back to the convention center and then to the big awards gala. There were a few tense (and really funny) moments before the event when we were not sure if my pants would fit or not because my waste was so swollen still. All of our employees laughed at me and the situation.

Early Friday morning I went to a doctor’s appointment in Miami and was given the green light to go home and make my plane. After looking at the test results from the operation the doctor said that I was probably 4 hours away from a real bad emergency situation when I first came in to get everything looked at. It was a good thing that I cam in, BUT I probably should have gone to the hospital MUCH earlier then I did, lol.

In the end I was/AM extremely happy that I went back so quickly to the event because there was so many positive things going on and networking opportunities.

If anything the emergency surgery turned out to be a positve as everyone wanted to talk about it and it was a great lead in to discuss business, lol.

More to come. i will be BLOGGING here much more and anyone else who wants a blog can just ask and I will set on up for you also!

:)

So what was wrong with your appendix that you had to have it removed? Did it rupture? I'm glad you are better though!! I'm thinking about starting a blog, but maybe when I have more time. I'm not here enough for it right now.

very cool. I would love to read your blog, even if you only post in it once a week. I will set one up for you today and you can post when ever you feel like it, no pressure. That was the main point when I started setting these up. Post a lot in them, or a little - it is YOUR blog.

When they finally removed my appendix the doctor told me that I was about 4-6 hours from a full rupture and then it would have been much worse surgery and a much longer stay in the Miami Hospital. But that was my own fault. I could have gone into the hospital at home a full day earlier when it first started hurting but I waited and waited and waited and flew to FL, went to my hotel, went to the convention, went to a nighttime event, etc - all before I finally went to the hospital, lol. I was stupid!

I do the same thing. I hate going to the hospital, so I only go if it's really bad pain or if I can tell that something is really wrong. Thanks for the blog, btw! :)

My Mom and stepfather are coming in a few hours to spend the weekend and see the baby. Always fun, but also always a lot of stress. always look forward to seeing family, but strange how it can be stressful. You run around cleaning up your house and making everything neat for the people who saw you growing up at your absolute messiest, lol.
Should be fun. will report back later.
