Debuts tonight after Heroes.

More about the show:
The Black Donnellys follows the exploits of four young, working-class Irish brothers. Their involvement in organized crime in New York City will put their life at risk and they will do anything to protect each other from the hostility between them and the others New York families who want their territory.
The series is produced by NBC Universal Television Studio in association with Blackfriars Bridge Productions.

Yep, it should be interesting. I'm recording the show on my DVR. I plan on recording it onto my camcorder and loading it up, but that'll be quite a few days from now. Still busy packing up the apartment prepping for the move.

Great first 20 minutes to the show. So many plot lines being laid out rapid fire. Crazy start with cops, wise guys and neighborhood kids and relationships. Already had multiple flashbacks and we have not reached the 1/2 way point. VERY fast passed so far.

what an ending this week. the show was already going 200 miles an hour and ended with a hurricane of activity and the brothers taking over their neighborhood with a swift blow of murders. I agree - very impressive first week of a show. will definitely be watching!

Apparently the amount of viewers dropped in half during the last 30 minutes of the show. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that there were no commercials until like 30 minutes into the show and then a ton of people went channel surfing and lost their way back.

well they had a massive lead in with Heroes on before it.
IMPAQ, did you see how the show scored? Did it at least have more viewers the Studio 60 did in the same time slot in previous weeks.

It apparently scored much less than 60's pilot.

well Studio 60's pilot was massive, especially with the stars attached to it. But the drop off week to week was equally massive and lead to the recent pulling of the series that gave Donnelly's a shot.
I have heard almost all positive reviews so far and have not seen any bad ones.

NBC marketed Studio 60 with a passion, though at Comicon Heroes was a major event. 60 has heavy weights on the cast and I guess NBC thought it would propel it to great heights. Unfortunately for them, it sucks.

I was hesitant about DONNELLYS but after seeing the show thought it was brilliant and so much better than Studio 60. It's smart, well thought-out and fast paced; though it did remind me of the film BOONDOCK SAINTS for some reason.. :)

I think the ol' Peacock is bringing to the table some excellent programming this season and it's definitely a good thing.

I just hope they give this series a chance to develop. After the first show there is so many ways it can go and so many characters to explore.

Boondock Saints was a great movie.

This show will be good if it can keep up the fast paced that they set out the first episode as that will be what everyone is expecting from now on so let's see if they did that just to get our interest or if that will be how every show is.

Yeah, I'm really digging this show.  I know I've seen the lead character somewhere before - what was he in? (I'm too lazy at the moment to IMDB the show)

3/5/07 - 2nd show this week. Here is my recap of what happened

We start with Joey Ice Cream in jail talking to his lawyer again and back to the entire story we are watching being told by him. We still don't know if he really was there for any of this, or he is making it up, because he keeps showing up in the story he is telling. It is actually pretty funny.

So right after the killing of all of the mob bosses at the end of last week, we pick up the story again.

Kevin takes Tommy's gun and they drop it down a sewer grid and into the water below. The brothers then head to the hospital. Tommy kisses his girl Jenny, but his mother calls that the doctor wants to see them. Their brother Sean is in bad bad shape and that they will be watching him for the next 24 hours. He flashes back to when they were young and his brother Jimmy was in the hospital with his leg all messed up. They leave the hospital and see his girl. He asks her to not report the guys who beat him up to the police.

They go shopping and steal some clothing. Back at the club the police are looking at the dead mob bosses. Some of the mob guys are there talking to the police. The police want to know what the head of the Irish mob was doing with the Italian mob guys. The new Italian leader talks to the police, he is already moving into the new leader role. Flash to the Irish mob and they are also looking for who killed their family member.

Tommy and Kevin are back on the street wearing their stolen clothing and they have to act like it is a regular day and nothing happened. they go to throw away their clothing and find another body in the trash (the guy that Jimmy shot and killed last week)

At the restaurant where Jenny and her father work, he is worried about the Donnelly brothers and how they might influence him. Jimmy is in jail and calls Tommy to bail him out. Kevin gets on the phone and Jimmy tells him to get the bag that is under the bar. It has cash in it and Jimmy tells him to get down there and bail him out. Tommy tries to stop him and says that they have to go clean up all of the messes that were made from the night before. They steal a van and go to the trash can to grab the body. They put it in the back of the stolen van and head to a place to dump the body that was once an abandoned swamp, which is now a big building. There is A LOT of sarcasm on the show tonight, that they actually comment on all of the sarcasm. So they go to a warehouse and jam the body into a metal barrel. But the body wont fit, so Tommy goes to a local store and gets a sledge hammer. They both strip down to their boxers and Tommy starts sledge hammering the body to flatten it. Kevin can not take it and throws up, so like always Tommy has to do the hard stuff. he is WAY STRONGER then his brother and obviously the leader. covered in blood Tommy rolls the barrel to the end of the dock and throw it off and watch it sink.

Back at the bar Jenny shows up and no one is there. She walks around and sees the blood at the bottom of the stairs out back. Flash to Kevin apologizing to Tommy that he did not help while he is washing the blood off himself off with a hose. Kevin feels the need to talk about it, but Tommy tells him to shut up and not talk about it.

They count the money from the bag because Tommy wants to make sure that Kevin does not go to bail out Jimmy and use the money. Kevin has taken some money out to do that. Tommy demands that Kevin give the money back and that they have to give it back to the Italians or they will get killed. The 2 brothers start fighting and then Kevin pulls out a gun and points it at Tommy, but cooler heads prevail. Back at the bar Jenny cleans up the blood she found (what a supportive-without-questions woman this girl is!!!). She obviously loves Tommy without question.

Driving back into town Tommy drops Kevin off and tells him to go home. Tommy then goes to the sewer drain where he dropped the gun and takes it. He then burns the stolen van they took and walks back to the Italian restaurant with the bag of money.

SIDE NOTE - the music on this episode is real good. It is similar to music that is on Grey's Anatomy or the old 6 Feet Under. Very haunting acoustic songs.

Jump back to the hospital and Jenny and the brother's mom are sitting by Sean. He is still unconscious. Tommy goes into the Italian restaurant to see Nikky, the new current highest ranking Italian mob guy. He is shocked to find his brother sitting there also drinking a beer. Tommy goes downstairs and tells Nikky that he heard about Sal and that he is sorry (which is funny since he killed him). He tells Nikky that he put his brother in rehab and that he owed money and with Sal gone he assumed that it was now owed to Nikky and he gives him the $30,000. Nicky asks where Louie is (Tommy's brother killed him and they just sunk him in the river) and Tommy says he does not know.
Nikky accepts the $30K, but tells Tommy has to pay him $1000 a week until Louie comes back. Obviously he does not know what happened to Louie, BUT HE SUSPECTS that Tommy, or Tommy's brother, did something to him. This is like payment for the hit. Tommy says that the money he just paid makes them even and the lost bookie is not his problem. Nikky says that he will be seeing Tommy's brother real soon (a threat). Tommy tells him that Jimmy has been in jail since yesterday, trying to make it look like he could not have responsible for anything that happened to Louie. and he walks away with a little smile.

This week's show ends with Tommy coming to where Jenny is and they rip off each other's clothing and have sex, with another acoustic song playing. He tells her that he loves her. They have passionate sex. flash to after and she is getting out of bed and she looks at him and tells him that she can not be with him. It is a shock and she says that she really is sorry. She walks out of the room and heads downstairs to work in the restaurant.  He leaves the restaurant upset and as he is walking a car pulls up and demands that he get in. It is the Irish mob looking for who killed his brother. They talked about the last time Tommy say him at the hospital. He is pretty scary man and has an ax with him in the town car. But right before he gets out of the car the Irish mob boss tells him to contact him if he hears anything at all. Pretty scary guy.

And the show ends. The previews for next week show this new Irish mob guy going out for revenge of his killed brother. He swears that he will get revenge and obviously next week's episode is going to center him looking for who did the killing.

Great show again this week.

3/12/07 -
We dive right back into the story with Joey Ice Cream telling the story again, this time in his cell, driving a guard crazy as he just keeps talking.
Huey's wife comes to see Tommy to see if they will have the wake at their bar, which is ridiculously ironic since they killed Huey.
Jimmy is really nervous because Huey's scary brother Dokey talks to him about Huey's killing.
Tommy goes to see Jenny to see if she will help with the food for the wake. She thinks it is completely wrong for the wake to be at Tommy's's bar, but we already know that. She agrees to help for Huey's family.
Joey Ice Cream and Kevin steal a cab from a guy in the neighborhood and say they will have it back by 6pm. they need to make some money for booze and food for the wake.
Jump ahead to the the funeral and Tommy is talking to Huey's widow wife. His scary psycho brother does not want Tommy talking to her. The new Irish mob head shows up to pay his respects. At the casket they talk business and there is obvious tension between the Irish and Italian mobs right now.
Even more irony as Huey's widow asks Tommy to speak at the funeral about Huey (who again was killed by the brothers.)
Jenny has a new man trying to ask her out, who delivers the muffins to her restaurant. She is obviously interested, but tells him at the funeral that it is just not the right time right now, but clearly she is willing to talk to him at a later time about it.
Huey's psycho brother corners Tommy again and makes it clear that he does not believe that the brothers did not have anything to do with Huey's death.
At the Italian funeral, the new neighborhood boss faces the boss above him. There is some suspicion that the new boss had something to do with the original Italian's death from the end of the first episode.
Jimmy watch'es his girl shoot up drugs while he talks about what he wishes would have happened with his brother and the entire situation they are all in.
Ice Cream and Kevin show up at a restaurant and steal alcohol and load it into the cab they stole. Funny that they are stealing liquor for the wake that will be held at their restaurant for the guy that they killed. At the wake Tommy remembers back to his relationship with Huey when he was young.
Huey's brother swears to find the killler and get revenge.
Jimmy shows up with his girlfriend stoned and drunk at the Italian's funeral and piss on a nearby grave, just pissing off the Italians VERY MUCH, but they don't do anything because the feds are watching the entire funeral, but we now have REALLY pissed off Italian mob members at Jimmy. STUPID MOVE and completely uncalled for!
On to the wake at the bar and Huey's wife asks Tommy to say something later about Huey. AHAHAHAHAHAHA - THIS JUST KEEPS GETTING BETTER AND BETTER.
In the hospital Sean's girlfriend is sitting by his side. Mom shows up and sends littel girlfriend on her way. The dislike is obvious.
Tommy talks to Huey's little son who was told not to cry and he tells him a funny story about his scary psycho uncle "Hokey Pokey Dokey" (Huey's brother). Everyone is scared of him. Jenny is talking to him also and she is scared and rushes out to the back of the bar. Tommy goes to talk to her. She asks Tommy why he had to kill Huey? He says that she needs to stop asking and just trust him. That night is done. She cries a little more and they put their heads together. She is worried about everything being OK.
Back in the bar and drunk Jimmy shows up yelling and talking to Dokey and anyone who will listen. He is drunk and it is not a good situation.
Dokey asks the Donnelly boys to come downstairs to talk to him. He has Jenny down there with him. Tommy and Jimmy go downstairs and Dokey has his boy with im and his ax. he is a complete nutcase, but he is still pissed off about his brother. He tells Jimmy that he has a big mouth and then tells him to put his leg up on a keg. Tommy says that if Dokey wants to know what happened then Jenny goes upstairs right away. she goes up and tommy tells a wild story about how they went to talk to Huey because they needed his help because they killed someone (they would not tell who). Dokey says that if they killed someone in the basement then there would be blood in the drain, which there is. Dokey leaves knowing that the story they told was true, well almost true, but enough to get him off their backs for now.
We go back up stairs and Tommy makes a few remarks about Huey to the crowd. He speaks from the heart and the episode ends.
Another good show.

The scenes for next week show the $1000 a day due to the Italians coming due and they fight back, but can they protect their mother. Looks good!

show starts with a bang tonight.
Italians want their money from Tommy.
Jenny jumps out of bed after spending the night with another man (Sampson), but she still has feelings for Tommy.
Back at the bar Jimmy finds a lost cell phone is ringing and it belongs to the dead bookie.
Tommy goes to talk to Kevin about the Italians wanting their money money. Tommy tells his brothers to keep an eye on their mother who the Italians threatened.
Jimmy thinks the bookies betters are on the phone and wants to collect the losers.
Tommy meets up with the guy Jenny was with the night before. He says he just wanted him to hear about it from him first and not from anyone else. Tommy is pissed, but does not let it show.
Jenny goes to church. talks to a priest who asks her to tell him about what is wrong. she says that she broke her vows this week by sleeping with 2 men in the same week, but she really did it to hurt the person she was really in love with (Tommy). Also talks about her husband, who never came home. the priest says he was a louse and she was better off without him and to undue her negative ties, and get an annulment from her husband, who has never come back.
Kevin and Jimmy are trying to figure out the names in the phone and how much they owe. Jimmy starts calling people and says he is going to pretend to be from the bookies office and collect the money people own. this sounds like a bad bad idea, but he is always doing crazy stuff like this.
Sean's girlfriend Kim tries to talk to Tommy to fiend out why Sean is ignoring her. Tommy tells him to go to the house and wait until he talks to her.

Jenny comes to the bar looking for Tommy. Jimmy gives her a hard time about her spending time with Sampson (the other guy from the night before).
Tommy tries to withdraw from art school and get his money back but finds out that his tuition was never paid. Huey was paying it out of the union, but now that Huey is dead, his psycho brother has cancelled paying that. So Tommy asks him to borrow the$ 2500 a week to pay the Itialians. He says no, but offers Tommy a job. all he has to do is rob Huey's widow wife and get a box in his office.

Kevin and their mother come home to find the door cracked open. it worries him, and then his phone rings and it is the Italian telling him to make sure that Tommy pays and basically threatening him and telling him that they can get to them if they want.

The mom is rude to Kim. what a family!!!
Jimmy and Icecream are trying to collect money and get in a fight with one of the people who owe the money. they knock him out and take his money. That is a funny scene.

Tommy goes to Huey's house and pretends to help his widow, but really gets the box from his office that Huey's brother Dockey wanted. He brings it to him but instead of him making the problem with Nikky the Italian go away as he said, he only gives him $2500 for the one week that is due. He is pissed, but what can he do? BUT he asks him for an address and gets Nikky's mother's home address. He goes there and meets Nicky and gives him the $2500 and kind of threatens him that now he knows where his mother lives and says that they are even. Nicky realizes that Tommy might be a potential boss someday and comments on it to his underling asking who he would bet on - Tommy or Dockey. Obviously Nicky thinks Tommy is a front runner.

Sean wont leave his room because he is upset about his face. Mother Donnelly give him a tough love pep talk!
In a strange twist Huey's wife calls him back to the house to have the locks changed because she thinks that Dockey came in and stole the box and the money, when really he did it. AND to top it off, the little kid saw him do it, but says that he will not tell. Crazy!

I agree that Boondock Saints is a TERRIBLE MOVIE. Just a complete and ridiculous piece of crap of a movie. It is so silly that it is basically "camp" or a "farce" of a film.
