History Channel does a series on illegal drugs and how they became illegal. The series is really interesting because they talk about a lot of facts that you don't learn in school i.e. how William R. Hurst enlisted his newspapers (think of his syndicate of papers as something akin to CNN, Fox News and MSNBC all rolled into one) to use scare tactics, print outright lies and use racicsm against hispanic immigrants to push to criminalize marijuana.
The series also does pieces on Opiates, Hallucinigins like LSD and I believe one on amphetamines. They discuss how ampetamines were originally used to treat asthma and then bean to be abused and eventually made illegal...
Some very interesting information on the entire world of illegal drugs and how they got to be that way.
