"Where The Boys Are" - March 1, 2007 (Original Airdate 09Nov06)

***** Please note, this is a repeat, and falls out of sequence with the storyline. *****

Fishing. Thats where the boys are. If McDreamy had his way, it would be where he is -- and no one else. But at the last minute he invited Burke, who invited George. And the Chief. And Alex, Joe and his boyfriend, Walter. The whole gang's going!

Tensions rise as McDreamy wishes he had more space when he set out to get some space, the Chief awkwardly discovers Joe and Walter are more than friends, and Alex and George come to blows. Literally. After George informs Alex that he's inadequately dressed and baiting his hook wrong, Alex counters by revealing that Callie is sleeping with McSteamy. You know how guys are.

In order to protect his prize investments -- the interns' hands -- Richard insists George and Alex engage in refereed open-hand fighting if they're going to go at it. They do just that, to the entertainment of all. Until they bump into Walter, who smashes his head on a rock. Fortunately, he's not hurt too bad -- but he needs stitches.

Enter Burke.

Earlier, George witnessed his hand tremble while adjusting his fishing line. Now O'Malley watches intently -- and skeptically -- as Preston sews up Joe's man. Burke comes through, but afterwards, chastises O'Malley for his high standards. In a moment of vulnerability, he asks why George attacks when he finds fault in others.

Back at Seattle Grace, Bailey is livid with Cristina for erasing her name from Burke's humpty dumpty surgery. That means no surgery for Dr. Yang. That means sorting through feces for Dr. Yang. To be more specific, when a boy is admitted after swallowing monopoly pieces, the Nazi (Bailey)assigns Cristina to the case after she won't cop to her board-erasing stunt. (which she cant because she is still covering for the fact that Burkes hand is messed up)

Even later on, when the boy experiences an abdominal problem and must be rushed into surgery, Bailey stonewalls Yang. Izzie's doing some serious stonewalling of her own, only she's shielding herself from Sidney, the resident she's assigned to peer counseling with. Sidney, of course, is the effervescent resident tortured by the interns during Dr. Bailey's brief maternity leave.

Her infectious optimism and talkativeness drive Izzie (and ME)up the wall, and Dr. Stevens snaps when Sidney encourages her to talk about Denny. Izzie comes around after Sidney tells her how she lost a child back in the day, and has learned to cope with the pain even though it never goes away. A melancholy Izzie admits she misses Denny constantly, and is unsure she can succeed as a surgeon again, much as she wants to.

Addison and Callie treat a pregnant woman who slipped in the shower. She refuses pain medication for her broken wrist out of concern for the baby, but Addison soon learns that the damage is already done. The unborn child has died, and Addison must break the news to the woman, who must not only cope with the devastation but birth the baby.

The only good to come out of that tragedy was Callie and Addison bonding... and admitting they're both through with that slime ball Mark. As for the aforementioned Dr. Sloan, he performs sexual reassignment surgery on a man whose wife somehow sticks by him through his emasculation. Moreover, the man is diagnosed with breast cancer, which is caused by the hormones that aid his transformation. But he goes forward with the surgery anyway.

Meredith assists Mark on the case, and throughout the process, he tries to impress upon her that Derek is damaged goods (taking no issue with the fact that he's the reason behind that fact, which I thought was funny). He and Meredith flirt at the bar after the surgery, but when Derek returns from the fishing trip, there's no doubt where Meredith's heart is. He's had his space, now he wants to start fresh, and take it slow. Our girl couldn't be happier.

McSteamy is no McDreamy, after all...(Thaaaaaat's riiiiight!!!)

"Staring At The Sun" - March 8, 2007 (Original Airdate 16Nov06)

***** Please note, this is a repeat, and falls out of sequence with the storyline. *****

The episode begins where some fans probably wish more episodes would: with Derek in the bathtub. He and Meredith are trying to take it slowly, but they just can't. They love each other too much! He's so McDreamy. So much so that Meredith proclaims herself "bright and sunny" instead of "dark and twisty" from now on. But given some of the goings on at Seattle Grace on this day, that doesn't last too long.

First and foremost is George's father, who's admitted with a broken clavicle. Callie repairs it, but the staff later learns that Mr. O'Malley has Stage 3 cancer of the esophagus and that it has spread to his stomach as well. To top it off, he needs a heart valve replacement first, so he's strong enough to survive the surgery to remove his tumors. Heavy stuff.

George designates Cristina as the intern on his dad's case, and taps Dr. Burke for the heart surgery. Only he's growing suspicious about their tag-team approach in the OR, and is increasingly convinced that Cristina is hiding a secret. She and Burke deny vehemently that anything is amiss, but by the end, it's clear that O'Malley is onto them.

How it plays out when the surgery takes place is anyone's guess, but the whole experience has changed the way Callie views George. She goes out of her way to bond with his brothers, with whom George has nothing in common. Then she tells them about Mr. O'Malley's condition in simple terms, after George was unable to communicate with them. Dr. Torres now wants him back. Whether he's the pig is another story.

A nine-year-old girl is admitted after being backed into by an SUV. Driven by her nanny, who she is much closer to than her career-driven parents. It makes Miranda think about her own choice to continue as a surgical resident after giving birth not so long ago. Addison and Derek never had kids, and while they're trying hard to be amicable towards each other, It's clear the pain of their divorce is lingering. Nevertheless, they try to help Richard through his noticeable depression at work.

The Chief confides in them that Adele wants him to retire, and that he's been spending what little free time he has with Ellis Grey. After meeting with Derek and Addison, who end up lamenting their own marital problems while trying to help Richard's, he realizes he's not ready to give up on his marriage and knows what he must do. The Chief calls Meredith in and tells her he can't see Ellis anymore, even though it makes her happy.

Izzie is shadowing Alex for the day, and Alex is once again Mark's lackey. This isn't all bad, though, as it gives him a chance to spend time with Izzie as he picks up Mark's dry cleaning and runs other errands. They also get to assist with a patient, Frank, who just had pectoral implants -- and who refers to himself in the third-person (a trend Alex and Izzie adopt).

Taking some advice from Frank, who got the new pecs in response to his lady friend joining the gym, Alex decides to go after what he wants. After they had been getting along famously all day, he plants one on Izzie in the stairwell. She rebuffs him, saying she can't. Later, at Joe's, Izzie says she didn't know he still felt that way. Alex apologizes for being an idiot, and says he understands. There's hope for these two yet.

Some couples are moving on, however. As the credits roll, Addison tosses her wedding ring over the edge of a ferryboat. At the same time, Derek and Meredith are back in the bathtub, only acting far from bright and sunny. This time, they're normal, jaded and tired professionals who live stressful lives. Which is okay, because they're only human.

Scars and Souvenirs - March 15, 2007

Chief Webber brings a new doctor - and potential chief successor - to the hospital by the name of Colin Marlow. He's a renowned surgeon (obviously, if he's going to compete for Richard's job) but there's something a little more significant about him than that. He's one of Cristina Yang’s former professors. And her ex-lover.

Any chance she had of concealing this evaporates when he gives her a hug (and grabs her ass) as he's introduced to the rest of our group.

In typical fashion, Yang tries to blow the whole thing off with Burke, but during a surgery, Marlow nonchalantly drops this piece of knowledge - he and Cristina not only dated for three years, but he proposed to her more than once, only to be rebuffed because she didn’t believe in marriage.

When Preston confronts her about this, Cristina tells him pretty matter-of-factly that she doesn’t really care about the whole marriage thing but that she’s going through with it mostly to make him happy. It hurts him to hear this (as you might imagine). Burke worries she’ll just decide to end their relationship in similar fashion. After another argument, Cristina winds up spending the night at Meredith’s house.

If you thought that was weird, we're just getting started. Izzie works with an elderly man who was shot during the Korean War. By a guy on his side. On purpose.

The doctors must operate to remove a bullet that's been lodged in the man for nearly half a century. When they present it to him after the operation, he breaks down, decimated by its tiny size. He expected it to be bigger, more befitting of the burden he's carried all his life. He urges Izzie not to let anything so awful happen to her that her good soul is changed.

By now, the attendings are all acutely aware that this Colin Marlow guy is a frontrunner for chief - and waste no time in kissing up to him... and accusing each other of kissing up to him and neglecting what's important. Richard, of course, is subjected to their bickering yet again, and thinks he's probably pretty smart for bringing in some new blood.

Despite having taken up residence in Meredith's place, Alex spends most of his spare time with Jane Doe, who undergoes surgery on her eye. There are complications with the baby, but Addison handles them accordingly. At the end, Alex implies he has a hot date during a run-in with Izzie, when he's really just going to see Jane D. She's still badly hurt, but it's clear from the way he acts that Dr. Karev feels a real connection to her.

Emotions run high as Derek treats an old friend, Helen, for a brain tumor. She's losing the will to go on after so many surgeries, but McDreamy tries to convince her to have hope and be willing to try again if this time isn’t successful, but she’s made her decision: this surgery is her last.  Despite heart complications during the surgery, Derek guides her through it, removing the tumor for good. Finally, she can live her life.

Now for the most scarred Seattle Grace intern at all. First of all, she's determined to change her outlook on life after her near-death experience. But will she be able to? Susan Grey convinces her to have dinner with her and Thatcher. Meredith agrees. She and Derek have them over for dinner.

It's awkward. Very awkward.

Just when we think Meredith’s about to lose it, though, Izzie blows a fuse and Thatcher heads down to the basement to fix it. He did own that house at one point, after all. Thatcher collect his thoughts in the laundry room to stall, while Meredith and her stepmother manage to have an actual talk. In the basement, Derek confides in Thatcher that Meredith is a handful, but getting close to her in spite of that is worth it.

Finally, George learns a secret about Callie: Let's just say that Izzie isn't the only heiress in town.

That's right, Callie is from a rich family. George, of course, tells just about everybody. Izzie later makes a comment about Callie’s cash and Dr. Torres-O'Malley is livid. Callie tells George that she thinks he has feelings for Izzie and vice versa. Rather than denying it, however, George replies that there's no way a hot blonde like that would be into him.

Not good.   (It was really a sad moment, because you knew he was going to say it, and you hoped he wouldnt say it, and your body just kinda... CRINGED when he said it.)

Callie thus throws George out and he goes to Meredith’s house to blow off steam. He and Izzie get drunk off Knob Creek and sit around laughing and talking about the mess their lives have become. George tells Izzie what Callie said and she laughs so hard she gets tears in her eyes.

That's when things change. He has his hand on the back of her head and they stop laughing, and just look at each other.

The next thing we know, it’s morning, George is in Izzie’s bed and they’re naked. Izzie realizes what happened the night and the look on her face is something akin to abject terror.

Thanks for your great recap. Here are my thoughts.

Overall it was a good show, and they had to lighten things up some after the past few weeks.

I think I officially hate Izzy. She is just a jerk and really has vomit mouth. And George way over reacted to the money thing. It is a great thing that Callie is rich. Why not be happy FOR ONCE!

Next, I don't care what or how long Yang's relationship was with Marlow, I STILL NEVER see a doctor up for the chief residency grabbing the ass of anyone. What I always liked about this show was that even with all the McSteamy, McDreamy stuff, it still was somewhat realistic. Lately it seems to be going away from that. Hopefully it will get back on course and not go completely off the deep end of silliness.

Also, I am not sure that they slept together yet? It is implied at the end of the show, but we don't really know yet.

The Alex - Jane Doe story line is awesome and he is showing more and more each week.

The best part of the show this week was the dinner with Mer's father. Just all of it was really well done, including Derek talking to Thatch.

My favorite moment of the episode was when George said he needed his best friend and that he thinks he made a mistake.  Izzie at that point, did a turnaround and was supportive.  I was proud of her then.

I think he was right to be somewhat upset with the way she handled it.  By Callie stating that the money he gave her towards the hotel expenses she used to "tip the housekeeping" that probably hurt his pride/ego.   In Season 2, she had told George something to the effects of "You have a circle and you dont let me in" so he back his wife up, only to find out she is keeping something pretty major from him.  It IS a great thing that Callie is rich, but I think a little more time for the shock to wear off on George would have been a good thing.

There is more to the storyline behind Yang, Marlow and Burke... which will come out in the next few episodes... :)

Here is a blog from Debora Cahn, the writer of the March 15h Episode
********************************************
Izzie and George sleep together.

Izzie and George sleep together.

And what does sleep mean, really, it could mean anything, which is what you figure’s going through Izzie’s head when she pulls up the sheet to check if she’s wearing anything, and the answer is, “No. Nothing at all. You’re naked in a bed with your best friend, and it sure as hell looks like he’s naked too. Everybody’s naked and in the bed and have been for a while and they have bed head and are naked.” So sleep could just mean sleep, but probably doesn’t.

The moments you wait for, in a job like this, are ones like when Shonda calls you into the writer’s room and says, “You know how we talked about how maybe George and Izzie sleep together? Put that in your episode.” That’s when you smile, and try to be cool, and say, “Oh, sure, I can find room for that.” And then you leave the writer’s room and do the biggest happy dance you’ve ever done, and it goes on for a while, until you realize somebody from the script department is standing nearby and watching and now thinks you’re epileptic.

Izzie and George sleep together.

Well it was bound to happen, right? Best friends. They get each other like nobody else gets them. They share everything. It’s easy. It’s natural. It’s like gravity, how can you fight it? How can you not fall? Okay, there’s a way to not fall. Lots of people don’t sleep with their best friend. In fact, I’d like to take this opportunity to assure my husband that I’ve never slept with any of my best friends, and I don’t plan to start any time soon. But it makes sense, in a way, right? Isn’t that the fantasy? That the guy and the best friend can be the same person? That Izzie and George, who have shared every minute of the most intense time in their lives, turned to each other in every success and every failure and every breakup and every triumph, with every piece of gossip and every bit of pain, should share…everything? Share their hearts and their souls and… all their other parts? It makes sense, right? Right up to the “he’s married” part. That’s where it all kind of falls apart.

Oh Callie. Callie gets a pretty raw deal around here. She’s tough. Which is good. She needs to be. But she gets a pretty raw deal. More on that later.

Back to sleeping with your best friend… We’ve spent some time here today wondering if this is going to encourage a whole bunch of people deciding to sleep with their best friends. And who knows what would come of that. All I’ll say is, if your best friend’s married, I don’t recommend it. But if your best friend’s single, and so are you, and you always kind of thought of them as the guy you go to for advice about guys, maybe you should tilt your head to the side and see if they look a little different. Roll the dice. Who knows? Maybe the best relationship you’ll ever have…you’re already having. Let us know how that works out.

But George is married. So there’s not really a way this can work out well.

Oh Callie.

Now, to be fair, Callie is not some innocent, trod-upon martyr. She lied. About something kind of big. And then flew off the handle when she found out George told his friends. And she flies off the handle at George a lot. The whole, “Why am I always the dog getting whopped on the nose with the newspaper” thing? I think he’s really got a point there. Callie was into the relationship first, and pissed that George wasn’t there faster. Callie was in love first, and pissed that George wasn’t there faster. There’s a lot of Callie being pissed for George having feelings different than hers, and he’s allowed to have his own feelings. She doesn’t have to enjoy it, but she can’t really blame him for it, and she does. A lot. He’s apologizing, a lot. And that’s just got to be exhausting.

Still shouldn’t turn around and sleep with his best friend, though. That’s not cool either.

Izzie and George.

I’m not going to get into the Meredith, and the Derek, and the dinner, and the father, and Cristina and Burke and Colin, who we love, not just for his dashing British accent, but it certainly doesn’t hurt, and Alex, and the tragically deformed Jane Doe, because I rambled endlessly about all that on the podcast I did with Betsy yesterday and I don’t want to repeat myself. (My first podcast. Very intimidating. Kind of horrifying, really, though Betsy is just masterful, and I think in a few years will have her own talk show.) And because I’ve now taken up about all the real estate they want to give me on the Izzie and George. But I’m okay with that, in the end. I think I am. Because… you know… Izzie slept with George.

that is crap. he was going on and on about Izzy in the hotel room and if you are really married you would know better. also he should be defending his wife BEFORE she has to complain about what jerks his friends are being. but george always takes the reverse of that and defends his friends first, which is backwards. he should have never ever got married if he was not committed to all that this means. so they have made a joke about being married now 2 times. with george and again with yang, who is just doing it to appease her preston. again, the worst reason to get married and the writters made a joke of marriage yet again.
maybe i am taking a hard line on this but in every world someone is happy - someone. yet in this world it seems that no one is happy..ever, or for very long, lol

ps - thanks for posting that info here. i wish we could get one of the writters to post here so we could debate their ultimate thinking.

:-wwOh, Grey's is one of my favorite shows. I love it...even though half the time I end up crying for no apparent reason.  The episodes which included Meridith's mom dying, and Meridith almost dying (Hey, Denny) were a tearfest for me.

so now Izzy and George are going to have ongoing tension about hooking up and apparently he is her perfect match??? that came out of left field, but I guess it was always leading up to this.
It is very hard to get a read on Mark's intentions, if they are self serving or if he is actually a good person.

My Favorite Mistake -  March 22, 2007

We all make mistakes... but some of us don't remember them.

Izzie is wracked with guilt and confusion over the fact that she and George slept together. He probably would feel the same way, if he remembered.

As for Mrs. O'Malley, she tells George to forget about their argument (the one that drove him into Izzie's arms). They have to put on a good show, as Callie's dad has just found out about their marriage and is on his way to Seattle to meet George.

Speaking of fractured relationships, Cristina tells Meredith she's going to try to forget the flap over Colin Marlow, and get things back the way they used to be with Preston. She brings Burke coffee at the hospital, like the old days. But he's interested in moving forward, not backwards.

After just one day at SGH, Marlow draws up a 10-year plan for the hospital. The attendings hear that and scramble to come up with their own long-term agendas. Mark tries to pick Miranda's brain in advance of his meeting with the board, but she snaps at him, insisting she doesn't have time for this since she's got patients who need to be helped. Right now.

Thus, unintentionally, Mark stumbled onto a brilliant idea - he channels Miranda's idea for "right now" plan for Seattle Grace and impresses the board of directors. He's looking - shockingly - like he may have a shot at Richard's position now.

With no idea who she is or what she used to look like, a recovering Jane Doe needs to select a face for herself. Literally. Mark is set to perform reconstructive plastic surgery on her, and Alex presents several computer images of faces for her to pick. She worries, understandably, that her unborn baby's father won't recognize her if she picks the wrong one.

Alex helps her by inventing a persona for each of the three different face options. Reassured, she picks the last one, which Alex named "Ava."

Izzie wants to avoid George and Cristina wants to avoid Burke and Marlow, so the both volunteer to work in the clinic. With George still shaky over the previous night, Callie won't let him near a patient with an incredibly rare disease which turns muscle into bone.

Izzie gets stuck helping Callie. The patient, Cathy, has internal bleeding, probably caused from overdosing on painkillers. She knows she'll die from this disease eventually, and asks what happens if she refuses surgery. She will bleed to death, Callie says. Her daughter, Nina, is incensed, unable to accept her mother giving up, and insists on the surgery.

She bleeds out on the operating table, but would also have died if they opened her up. Izzie comforts Nina, saying her mother was ready to go.

Cristina treats construction worker with type II diabetes complaining of a sore foot... but the sore foot is severely injured and has to be cut off. He is devastated, begging her to find a way to save it. Compassionate, she pores over her medical textbooks, clearly equating the hapless limb with her own wounded relationship.

In the end, she can't save the foot - but before his presentation to the board, she tells Burke he's still the same man the Chief originally chose. Comforted, he says he knows he's not... but he hopes he's grown, for the better, since then. Later, after some unexpected advice from Colin, Yang agrees to marry Burke, as long as it's low-key and not religious.

Sloan is going to let Meredith harvest bone from her Jane Doe's by herself. Derek is concerned that Mark is using her to impress Richard - if she gets in over her head, Mark looks good by saving the day, whereas if she does a great job, Mark still gets the credit as a strong leader.

Meredith is not thrilled at Derek being overly protective, but tells Mark that she won't do it just to serve his ends. Mark doesn't deny he has his own reasons - but says that the Chief has been looking at Mer like a lost puppy, and if she does the surgery and does it well, he'll treat her like she's a surgeon again.

She agrees to do it, and comes through with flying colors.

"My dead Mommy would be proud," she tells Derek.

His board presentation, meanwhile, was a bomb. What he doesn't tell Mer is that he was distracted, since thinking about 10-year plans only got him thinking of the only 10-year plan he really cares about: with her.

Still wracked with guilt, Izzie asks Addison for advice about sleeping with the wrong person - is it wrong, even if it feels right? Surprised, Addison tells her to simply stop... and it's clear that's not the advice that Dr. Stevens was hoping for.

Callie's dad meets George and he is not pleased. The eloping, for one. The fact that he's broke, for two. But George wins points when he freaks out - Mr. Torres talked about buying a house and car for them, and O'Malley is having none of it, insisting he'll provide for her on his own.

Mr. Torres later finds George and says he respects him wanting to provide for Callie on his own. But he warns him to never hurt Callie. But by this time, it's of little consolation to George, since he's had flashbacks to what he did with Izzie the night before.

He rushes to find her and they share awkward silence. Izzie wants to tell Callie, but George insists he can't... it would hurt her too much, she's stood by him all along, and it has to remain their secret. He won't clear his conscience at the expense of the pain it will cause Callie.

Back at the hotel, Callie and George are lying in bed. She says she still smells his clothes from the night before, even though they're over in the closet. He tells her he's sorry, she says she'll learn to live with it. At Meredith's house, Izzie strips the sheets off her bed and begins to cry.

Reassured, she picks the last one, which Alex named "Ava." That was actually pretty nice, but I am worried about where this doctor patient relationship is going. Also, someone eventually has to show up who knows her.

She is a strange bird. Sometimes she is set and serious and other times she is not. She flip flps every show about 3 times.

I think George, overcome with guilt is going to tell Callie what he did, thus ending that relationship over the blonde bimbo. Has anyone noticed that George has slept with more people then anyone else, including McSteamy or McDreamy. Pretty funny.

Greys Anatomy - April 19th  Time After Time

Our history defines us. Cristina struggles with hers, as Colin Marlow says she's not the marrying kind, even as she plans to wed Burke next month. A young woman who Alex says was raised by wolves (Meredith), must deal with her "fake mother" (Susan), who's determined to be a part of her life. The Chief looks to move on after his painful divorce from Adele, and when we first see Isobel Stevens, she's coming back from confession.

As in the confession. At church.

But her inexplicable night of passion with George is nothing compared to the shock Izzie gets next.

Eleven years ago, Izzie got pregnant and gave her baby up for adoption. Now the parents of her daughter, Hannah, are at Seattle Grace and asking Izzie for help. Hannah is in dire need of a bone marrow transplant, and Dr. Stevens - the biological mother - is a strong match. Suffice it to say, it's too much for the girl to take. She retreats to the women's room in tears, and confesses all to a concerned Dr. Bailey.

With ulterior motives as plain as day, Colin asks Cristina to assist him on a unique "piggyback" heart surgery. He and Preston angle for her affections even as they prepare the patient for his operation... and even during the procedure. Colin chastises Burke as he conducts the surgery, then takes a shot at Cristina when he catches her trying to console Preston afterwards.

As Marlow splits town, Cristina can get back to being herself... assuming she wants to be or knows who that is.

In the race for Chief, a sullen Derek pleads for Richard's support with the board. Mark also seeks Richard's support... as a wing man. That's right, to pick up girls. It's a recipe for disaster. Richard asks if it's just a ploy on Sloan's part to get him laid in return for his vote with the board. A wry smile is all Mark offers.

Despite continued wrangling, Derek doesn't get the Chief's backing, but not for his lack of qualifications - it's because Richard has seen what the job takes out of a man and he promised Ellis Grey he'd look after her daughter.

Derek may be the top candidate, but he is therefore left wondering whether Meredith his forever compromised his ambitions of becoming head of surgery.

Mark may not get a wing man, but Jane Doe gets a name. She's Shannon Marie. When Seattle Grace releases photos of her new face to the news stations, a married couple claims her as their daughter. The blood type (and her lack of tonsils) is a match. All is well until the would-be mother pulls a 180 and decides Shannon/Jane Doe is not her daughter.

But is she? Does her husband merely want it to be so? Is she just unwilling to accept the possibility that things might never be the same? Does Alex secretly - or not-so-secretly - wish to keep Jane Doe all to himself? At the end, when she learns she may not be released to be with her newfound parents, Jane/Shannon snaps at Alex, finally releasing the frustration and pain she's been harboring throughout the entire ordeal.

Hannah says she's not ready to see her biological mother, but a sad Izzie nonetheless agrees to the bone marrow transplant. Bailey tries to keep the process discreet, but George insists on knowing what the heck is going on. It's becoming more and more clear that he loves her as he holds her hand through the painful spinal injection and helping her get dressed (and into a wheelchair) after.

As they watch Hannah prepare for the transplant - unbeknownst to anyone but them - Izzie stops short of telling George she loves him. Barely. She says she can't live without him... and that the love they made wasn't something evil, and that she needs him now and in the future. Their history defines them... but what will the future hold?

The Chief trying to flirt in the elevator was laugh out loud funny. I like Mark as "the wing man"

Can the writers of the show actually think that the public wants to see her this much. Everyone I watch the show with cant stand her any more.

He was a stuck up fool.

I loved the bar scene with Mark and the Chief.

The blood type (and her lack of tonsils) is a match. All is well until the would-be mother pulls a 180 and decides Shannon/Jane Doe is not her daughter.  that was pretty sad. i feel really bad for her and wish we would learn a little bit about who she is already.

But is she? Does her husband merely want it to be so? Is she just unwilling to accept the possibility that things might never be the same? Does Alex secretly - or not-so-secretly - wish to keep Jane Doe all to himself? At the end, when she learns she may not be released to be with her newfound parents, Jane/Shannon snaps at Alex, finally releasing the frustration and pain she's been harboring throughout the entire ordeal. same as above. i really felt her pain. this was a powerful scene.

I guess IZZY will be officially ruining George's marriage soon. It seems to be leading that way and he is such a wimp that he can't see that he should put his wife first, but he does not. Silly, just silly.

personally I am completely tired with Derek's flip flopping. Mer should dump his butt and move on already. He seems to have more internal issues then anyone else. I am bored with his indecision.

We said WOW also, lol.
It is funny to see EVERYONE unhappy or not happy....EXCEPT Yang and Burke, who are perfect. That was funny.
Very interesting show to set up the rest of the season and beyond.

Remember .... she did not swim. She could swim....but she did not swim. She did not swim.

Desire - April 26th

When the Chairman of the Board of Seattle Grace is admitted, Richard wants Miranda
on the case because the attendings will be too consumed by their own ambitions. But when this VIP patient's shockingly enlarged genitalia is presented to the staff, it's all hands on deck.

It turns out that during a recent trip to the Amazon, a rare parasitic fish lodged
itself in his urethra. Lovely. Moreover, unless Richard - who the disgruntled Chairman
calls out for becoming too political and soft since taking over as Chief - operates,
it could be fatal. (penis fish...roflmao)

But his bizarre physical problem isn't the only complication the Chairman is going
through. Worried that she may too be afflicted with whatever is causing him pain, his assistant, Celeste, confesses to George that she's been having an affair with him for
five years. Her tests are negative, but clearly the event has altered her thinking
about their relationship. (penisfish....ROFLMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO)

Preston, Richard and a whole team of surgeons operate and eventually get the parasite, which had grown large inside the man. But when he wakes up, he loses a lot more than that. Wracked with guilt, Celeste announced she won't be staying on as his assistant, and his wife, who just confessed to George that she knew about the affair all along, leaves as well.

With Miranda assigned to the Chairman, Sidney is in charge of the clinic, and has Izzie treat a man although it appears he has nothing more than a common cold. Lucky for him, Sidney was her usual thorough self, because they discover that he's leaking spinal fluid out of his nose. His brain is actually collapsing on his spine.

Richard tells a relentlessly hard-working Miranda she can't do it all if she wants to
have a life and be Chief Resident. Meanwhile, the interns all cram for their big test
as the end of their first year approaches. They're all struggling to deal with their
complicated personal lives on the side, too, making it an interesting few days at Seattle Grace.

Cristina can't be bothered to sample wedding cakes for the hyper-involved Burke, wishing instead to obtain Callie's amazing flash cards to help her studying. Izzie and George, meanwhile, are completely inseparable - to a point where it's obvious to everyone, and maybe even a little nauseating.

They love each other, even if they won't admit it. Callie doesn't think an affair took
place, but she still begs Izzie to give her back her husband. A crying Izzie confesses
- to Burke, of all people - that she slept with her married best friend. George tells
Izzie that he's applied for a transfer to Mercy West. Not because he wants to. He has to. (which REALLY pissed me off... George CANT leave!)

Ticked at herself for telling Derek to stop hovering, Meredith shifts gears and tries
to be super communicative and friendly. All day long. It's a bit of a reversal for the
usually coy and sometimes distant Mer, but she keeps at it, updating Derek as to her whereabouts and feelings at all times.

But it's not clear if Derek wants her to be. At the end, after she shows up at his trailer unannounced, strips down in his bed and they have sex, he says he isn't sure he wants to breathe for her anymore. She didnt swim. After this harsh remark (and reference to her near-drowning), a distraught Meredith leaves for home, with Derek alone in his bed.

Jane Doe/Ava is in much better spirits than the last time we saw her, and doesn't hesitate to update Alex on all the latest Seattle Grace gossip. A good listener, she's picked up on everything regarding Addison's 60-day no-sex bet with Mark, as well as the fact that Dr. Montgomery has been pining for younger Dr. Karev. She encourages Alex to go for it!

He's got more important things on his mind, though, when Ava has a seizure and her baby has to be delivered prematurely. As Ava panics during surgery, Alex comforts her, showing a side of himself that endears him even more to his boss, Addison. She finds him later and attacks him in the on-call room, stealing him away in the heat of passion. (very cool scene)

Seeing this, a dejected Mark makes a pass at Meredith, but she immediately rebuffs his offer of revenge sex and tells him to let Addison go. When he runs into Addison later, Mark lies and says he slept with someone. In the end, he couldn't hold out. Addison doesn't want a guy like him, and he doesn't deserve her, he says, shuffling off.

When she sees Alex studying later that night, though, Addison receives a second huge shock when he turns down her offer of a nighttime rendezvous. Their little soiree was great and all, but she's not his girlfriend, Alex tells her. Unable to find a man who'll give her what she wants, she walks out of the hospital pondering her place in the world. (Poor Addie)

Oh, and Cristina reluctantly chose the red velvet cake.
