Extreme Home Makeover is one of our favorite shows. Ty can be a little over the top and the design team can cry a little to quickly with ever sad story that is told, but overall the show is amazing and what they create and build for the families in need are incredible.
The show was in Raleigh, North Carolina last month for the upcoming show that will be aired on Sunday, January 21, 2007. Since the show was filming in town we were lucky enough to go to the site and see them working on the house all week.
Below are pictures from the final day (move that bus!). It was a lot of fun to see the actual filming and happy family. As mentioned above the show airs on Sun Jan 21!

MORE PICS.
WE WERE close enough that you can see Ty and the family. It was a lot of fun and about 5000 people were at the last day of filming.
Enjoy the pics!

They came here the summer Mena was born... or fall rather.
We went and saw the house too.... there were so many people they were busing people in and only as many as were leaving. We waited hours.

We got lucky and forced our way all the way to in front of the house, or directly across the street from it right as they were filming the family jumping up and down. You can see from the pictures that we were walking towards the house and I was taking pictures as we got closer and closer.
It was a fun week and the entire town got into it. There was about 5000 people there the day of the reveal.

Sun Jan 14th - what a house they built this week!
The story this week - a community leader and his family, who currently live in the granmother's attic, get a new home - and what a home it is!
They were sharing a tiny, and I mean tiny space, where the parent slept on a hard wood floor in the living room and the entire living space was the size of most people's small bedrooms. It was very hard to watch.
The new house the team built them was stunning. hard wood floors, all the top of the line fixtures, appliances, furniture, and much much more. It was a neat house because instead of being huge and crazy - it fit between other close houses like in a city and was long and very stylish (still pretty big and much much bigger then what they had). I loved the kitchen - all stainless steal equipment and really nice counter tops. Was pretty. I also liked that the back of the house looked like it was all windows.
The family was very appreciative and they really loved the bedrooms, which was a big upgrade from sharing the sleeping space in the past.

| You from North Carolina? I wanted to drive to Raleigh to see the building of the house (I'm an hour outside of Raleigh) but couldn't make it there. :(

It was really a lot of fun. We went a few of the days and the coverage in town was massive. This show is on tomorrow on 1/20/07. Looking forward to seeing it and looking to see if I can see myself in the crowd, lol.
where do you live?

| I'm from Tarboro. I got excited when I heard they were in North Carolina. They had announced on the news that they had all surrounding roads blocked and they made out a few calls for volunteers. My ex-husband called and asked if I wanted to go with him to help out.

We looked and looked and DVR'd the show to look again, lol.
The crowd shots are so fast. I could see some of the signs people were holding that was right next to where we were standing, but could not see us.
We are going to look again today, lol
I thought it was a good show and the family deserved everything. Was very nice that the show also did a lot of work directly across the street at the community center / ministry where the family worked. Helped a ton more people then just the family who won the Makeover. Was nice to see it all happen first hand. Was fun.

March 11, 2007 show. Pretty good show. Single mom with 2 daughters lost her son in a terrible car accident. Right before their house had burned down. They were trying to rebuild when the son died, but they ran out of insurance money. So here comes the Extreme Home Makeover team to finish the house. What they do is nothing short of amazing and they really go way overboard and do up the 3 rooms for the 2 girls and the mom. the house is incredible. I liked the room for the oldest daughter with the newspaper stories on the wall (including her own stories).
The community paid off the mortgage for the family , which was also pretty nice.
