One of the holdover shows that made it on the new CW network - America's Next Top Model has been on for the past few years.
Tyra Banks is the host of this sometimes silly show, that my wife can not get enough of. Basically a group of women come together to compete for the Next Top Model crown and a modeling contract with Cover Girl. Each week they have competitions and the tension and fighting is always funny and interesting. This is reality TV at is "orchestrated" best.
The judges are as flamboyant as the contestants and many weeks turn into hour long commercials for different designers. One of the funniest things about the show is how Tyra Banks talks to the contestants. She tries so so hard to be an authority on everything, and many times it is comical.

I forgot to add - look at this judge...
NO BODY is as wild as this guy

J. Alexander began his career gracing the runway for Jean Paul Gaultier in New York City. After a modeling stint in Tokyo, he eventually decided to settle in Paris, and since 1991, is a preferred contact for casting and coaching runway models for well-known designers, including Valentino, Galliano, Bill Blass, Alexander McQueen, Chanel and Nina Ricci.
His compassion for beginning models and ability to easily improve elegance and movement on the catwalk, combined with his outlandish sense of style, has put him in high demand in the world of fashion and modeling.
Alexander's studio is a frequent stop for television, newspaper and magazine journalists looking to capture his unique talent and secrets of runway success. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling the world for modeling competitions and charity events

I heard something somewhere that Tyra may lose both her talk show and the modeling show if she doesnt lose some weight. Apparently, she has gained about 25 pounds and the powers that be are NOT happy about it.
Sad isnt it?

| I can't believe how much TV coverage Tyra's weight is getting. She has ballooned up to 160+ pounds and it is as if a major event has occurred. She is on every talk show talking about it. On Oprah (not one to talk about weight herself, lol), and on just about every entertainment/gossip show. I am actually sick of hearing how heavy she is every day!

| lol - I am sure you are correct. It just works out better that way and you keep promoting whatever you are doing at the time and stay in the publics eye. So maybe getting fat was a calculated decision she made to stay on the covers of all of the magazines and on all of the talk shows, lol

A lot of times it has been reported in magazines etc that women are envious of Victorian Ladies and their ultra slim waists.
They didn't have all the pills and potions that are now classed as a must or the only thing that will make you slim - or even one of those silly bits of junk continually advertised that can fold flat for storage under the bed.
If they could do those things then without chemical or mechanical aids, why are women, and a growing number of men, spending billions each year on buying them.

| Speaking of models from another thread, did anyone catch the season premier of Americas Next Top Model Cycle 8? They actually have 2 plus size girls this season, which I think is awesome. However, how long can a show like this really go on? Has anyone else noticed that we never see the winners from previous seasons again (except for, I suppose Adrianne Curry, thank you VH1)? It was okay, but I probably won't make a habit out of watching it this season with so many better shows on at that time. However, I will say it looks like Tyra has lost some serious weight. I guess most people tend to let themselves go a bit as they get older, but I couldn't believe how she looked when I saw her on her talk show a few months ago. And btw, how did she ever get a talk show in the first place? She's probably one of the stupidest and most annoying people on TV...

my wife said EXACTLY the same thing about the plus sized models.
I think this show is still one of the network's highest rated shows, so on this channel it could go on forever.
And yes, Tyra has lost some weight, but after all of the the big stink made about the 60 pounds she packed on, I am sure she went into panic mode to get slim again, lol
Personally I CAN NOT stand the way she talks and how slow she pronounces words. I think she went to the David Caruso school of speaking, hahaha.

| I officially hate this show and can't stand it. When it's on I feel like breaking things.

lol, it's an okay show. I gotta get my reality tv fix you know! Haha, I watch it whenever I have time. I miss when they did the individual evaluations when it's just one model in front of the judges. This season, they don't do that anymore.

you noticed that too! funny me also, she started to get on my nerves
and when she would try to comfort a distraught competitor after being
voted off I wondered how sympathetic she really was.

| and a lot of times when I catch part of this show when my wife is watching I see Tyra give advice on how to do a particular model move or pose and the advise Tyra gives is insane, or stupid, or honestly no better then what the contestant did. She poses as such an expert..which is really funny

She is just so phony and fake. I agree with the whole "insane stupid no better than what the contestant did" because she is just icky. I saw her on Wild N Out (on MTV) and she was jumpin around like an idiot. Tyra doesnt have an ounce of class. She did a "fat" show where she wore a fat suit one day, and she just said that it broke her heart to see how she was treated because she was so fat. How MEN treated her. WHen she later revealed to the men that she was Tyra Banks, its like she was expecting them to fall all over themselves. Icky.
The girl is just Icky.

| My wife started watching the new season of this last night. I have to say that IMO none of the current candidates are pretty. what happened to models actually being pretty. And they are all so weird. just strange people. Made for TV IMO.
