The Fox network is turning to two of television's more familiar sitcom faces and a futuristic drama inspired by the Terminator movies in a bid to fortify a prime-time lineup dominated by American Idol.

The 2007-2008 Fox schedule to be officially unveiled for advertisers on Thursday consists of three comedies and four dramas in all, one of them a sci-fi thriller called The Sarah Connor Chronicles, a spinoff from the film Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

The series follows the title character as she fights to protect herself and her son from a new onslaught of robotic enemies.

I wonder how that will go or long it will last? Personally I do not think it will last a season but you never know.

I could see it lasting longer on SCI- FI not Fox. Sometimes the big 4 Networks don't let a show get an audience before they can them.

Terminator and Terminator 2 were such masterpieces, I'm almost afraid to see where this TV spinoff will take these classics. However, there have been success stories where film to TV spinoffs are concerned, such as Superman - Lois and Clark. I just hope that the makers of the show do justice to this ultimate action classic.

I just read about this show and I would say it has potential if the fan base from the original movies is still there. And don't forget...they are talking about a Terminator 4 movie (without Arnold). So that could be a disaster, or aid the TV show, who knows?

I'm looking forward to this, personally. It'll be great marketing for a 4th movie too. Only thing is that you know how it's going to end... because it's inbetween shows.

I don't think this is a good idea at all. SOme things are meant to be only movies- this is one of them.

It just depends on how they handle it. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I'm just having a hard time thinking of how a plot would really develop that wouldn't bore us to death.

I can sorta see what you're saying, since we already KNOW what's going to happen. It'd be better if it was like after Terminator 3 or something. idk.

I've got faith they'll do a good job of it. These days TV shows are often better than the feature films, I've got my fingers crossed for this Star Wars Tv show too.

I think a possible comparison to this would be Smallville. If you think about it.

Or maybe Robocop the series. Which WAS the epitome of gash. TV spin offs of successful movies lack the budget to make them successful TV spin offs.

I always worry when they do anything based on a super popular movie series. this is going to have to be really really well done to hold up to the core true fans.

I really enjoyed the Terminator movies. Not sure if this will work but I hope it does. It might even be better than the films.

I always wonder why T3 was made. But then again they did make a 3rd Godfather also, lol

Ahh, but the Godfather movies, all three are superb. T3 was a cash in, if you ask me. Someone needed some money fast.

I've actually heard about this but didn't see too much potential with the whole idea. I really enjoyed watching Terminator 2 and thought it was rather brilliant. I'm not completely sure how the spinoff would turn out to be but many people believe that it would be promising. We'll just have to wait and see.
