Take a fantastic movie like "Leon", shove in a bit of "Assassins", then a dash of "Horse Whisperer", and then stick in Wesley Snipes in his most wooden role yet - and you have "The Contractor".

This is more than watchable... and quite gripping. It's just a shame that it tried so hard to imitate a couple of fantastic movies that it had no hope of aspiring to. Wesley Snipes in now in Prison because of his tax fraud... but he should've been left out to deal with my disappointment, which would've been much harder on him lol.

I like Mr Snipes - you know what you're getting with him - but he didn't stretch himself in this at all. Bring back Blade I say!

But don't get me wrong. The dynamic between him and young Emily (a blonde natalie Portman) is touching. Lena Headey is as gorgeous as ever. Ralph Brown was ok (he put me off because he blinked every time a gun fired - shame - loved him as Danny with his Camberwell carrot in Withnail and I). Oh and Charles dance was Charles Dance. Good on him.

Grab it on DVD with a large bowl of popcorn, and you'll enjoy it. Make a night of it to see at the flicks... and you'll be disappointed.

All merely my own opinion of course - as always!

PS: I think they should have ended the movie at the train station... not tagged on that extra scene which is quite frankly a bit schmaltzy for my taste.

I saw this. It was fun and worth renting. Isn't Snipes in jail now for 3 years?
