I was a huge fan of the original series and had high high hopes for this movie, especially with the actors in it (Foxx and Farrell) and the director (Mann).
Unfortunetely (at least for me) - this movie is more "style" over substance. It is one of those movies that is long (over 2 hours)...and feel longer at times. It is at least 30 minutes longer then it needed to be. They dont take the time to really explain any of the characters. Are the location shots nice, sure, but that does not make a movie.
Plot is simple. Crockett and Tubbs get drawn into a federal case against drug dealers. nothing really new or original here at all. Lastly, it just did not capture the original series enough. Similar but better movie - Bad Boys 2.
Great soundtrack though. That was a positive.
I am happy that I did not see this at the theaters. Not the worst renter in the world, but not good either. Rent if everything else is out, lol.
Anyone else see this one yet?
