Anyone catch this japanese show, or its american equalivent? the show pits two chefs in "kitchen stadium" where they are given an indgredient that both must incorporate into many different dishes, which are judged by a panel of three.
there is always a challenger going up againt the Iron Chef, who is supposly hand pick by some food champion or something like that...normally the Iron Chef wins...its funny watching the japanese verison because its dubbed in english

I love the Japanese one, never missed an episode. It is hilarious plus they are dam good chefs. I wish I could be a judge on it. ha
I do watch the American one but I dunno it just seems to be missing something. maybe because it is not translated and does not seem as fast paced as the Japanese one? I dunno but I still watch it.

| I think the Japanese show Rocks, they are really using anything they can grab their hands on to make the ingrediants and it's one chef against another, the american version looks like a Williams Sonoma warehouse with more gadgets then Maxwell Smart or James Bond plus each team has a variety of chefs working on their project, sort looses the mono y mono of the Japanese version PLUS (now you've got me going) The Judges are Morons on the American Show, the first few I watched (before I stopped watching it) at least one judge would say, oh, I don't like that ingrediant yuck, IT's a Freak'n cooking show, where the chefs are encouraged to cook Anything, therefore the judges just shouldn't be some pompous stuffed shirt...ewww I don't like that, they should be people who can JUDGE what is being made... Otherwise, all you have to do is know who is judging the stupid contest and cook to their taste rather then making the best recipe. Doh! BTW I was compared to an Iron Chef on ABC News a few weeks ago (that was thrilling and an Honor!)

| i haven't seen the us version of the show, but i love the japanese version, i think the translations just add so much, as the english voice overs try to carry over the speach style with it (like hurry voice, excited etc) i think it's great.

| it's interesting to see the dishes the chefs come up with. I know I'd never think of them in a million years.

| I love cooking shows like this one. I remember watching an episode where the secret ingredients were chocolates and coconuts. Cool!

| What I didn't like on this show is that they translate it in English but you could still hear them talking Japanese.
